Important information about government offices in Hungary
Those who are able to do so, should settle their pre-planned cases at government offices and government office customer services until 21 December, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
From 22 December to 6 January there will be an administrative holiday, during which time most of the offices will be closed.
Urgent public and official tasks will be carried out by government offices, and 60 designated government offices throughout the country and the Central Document Office (Központi Okmányiroda) will be open for limited hours during the break, napi.hu reports.
This is how the government is saving on energy
According to available information, the war in Ukraine and the rise in energy prices caused by “the failed sanctions in Brussels” have made it necessary to reduce gas consumption in public bodies, and the government has therefore imposed an administrative holiday from 22 December to 6 January.
The limited opening hours of the government offices will be uniform nationwide: they will be open on Thursday 22 December, and after Christmas, from Monday to Thursday, between 8 AM and 4 PM. On the affected Fridays (23 December, 30 December and 6 January) all government offices and document offices will be closed. Information on the government offices that will be open can be found on the kormanyablak.hu website, the statement said.
They also informed that most of the other government office customer services will be closed during the entire administrative break. Land offices will still be closed on 9 January to process applications received by post or electronically.
